Airborne Molecular Contamination (AMC’s)
13) Chemical filters for Airborne Molecular Contamination (AMC’s)
One of the fastest evolving requirements for FFUs is the integration of a chemical filter that has been designed to remove the exact species of concern for a specified and guaranteed amount of time, typically for 6 months or 1 year. Each chemical filter is designed and manufactured to accomplish the customer’s goal down to the sub PPB level. We have strategic partnerships with Camfil for their Gigapleat product line, as well as access to chemical filters from Entegris, Cambridge, and Viledon to name a few. The placement of the chemical filters in the “stack”is determined by the specification. If the filter can be designed to be a prefilter that is preferable, it makes it easy to service. However with high end specifications the pressure drop of the chemical filter is typically to high to allow it to go upstream of the fans, and at that point it must be “sandwiched” between the fan section and the final PTFE particulate filter. Selection of the chemical filter is very technical and can only be done after seeing the specification of the chemical species to be removed, and at what percentages. Give us your specification and let us make it work for you.
